Providing comfort, dignity, and essentials for children in foster care

Betty's House Foster Closet

About Us

A legacy of care

Betty’s House is a volunteer-run foster care closet serving licensed foster families, kinship placements, and school-based care closets in our community. We help children and families access clothing, essentials, and support when they need it most.

Betty’s House was founded in 2022 by the Sanazaro family to honor their mother, Betty Sanazaro, whose heart for children and families left a lasting impact on so many. Today, that legacy continues through a foster care closet created to meet urgent needs with compassion, dignity, and care.

What Betty’s House provides

Get Help

Licensed foster families and relative/kinship placements can access clothing, shoes, hygiene items, comfort items, and emergency essentials at no cost. Placement verification is required. Betty’s House also serves diversion placements, but not families who have already received a permanency goal of adoption or guardianship.

Give Help

Your donations, volunteer hours, and financial support help us keep the closet stocked and ready for children who need care right away. From sorting donations to fundraising and staffing open hours, every act of support matters

Supporting students through school-based care closets

Betty’s House also provides care closets for the Cuba, Bourbon, and Steelville school districts to support students who may not have consistent access to basic needs. These school-based closets provide clothing, hygiene items, school supplies, emergency food, and comfort items in a discreet and respectful way so students can feel confident, cared for, and ready to learn.

100% volunteer-based. 100% community-supported.

Testimonials

We're forever thankful for the incredible support we received from Betty's house in Cuba, Missouri, when we welcomed our new baby home. With a tight deadline to get everything ready, I called and left a message it was not even 30 minutes Jenny Horsefield returned my call she met with me no questions asked she was a lifesaver, providing us with diapers, clothing, and a crib. To top it all off, her husband delivered a beautiful baby bed that our little one will enjoy for years to come. We're truly grateful for their kindness! So to anyone out there that has new or gently used clothing please consider donating to Betty's House they were a blessing for us.

Betty’s house has helped us and many others by providing emergency clothing and supplies for foster children of all ages.

Betty’s house had been such an amazing resource for children who come into care! From big to small they have it all! 😉
